The objective of the camp was to provide medical aid to the widows from different parts of Odisha arriving in Puri to offer their devotion to Lord Jagannath and to celebrate the Maha Kartik Brata throughout the month.

A team of four doctors and a few devotee volunteers served at the YSS camp from 10 am to 3 pm every day. Examinations for various ailments like diabetes, hypertension, rheumatoid arthritis, joint pain, cough and cold, fever, stomach disorder, eye sight problems and other disorders were conducted. After the check-up, free medicines were distributed to the patients.  Nearly a thousand widow-patients between the ages 60 to 75 were helped by the camp.
